Again the death angel has passed over and another one of God's noble women has been called from time to Eternity, from life on this earth to life in Glory.
Isabel Bonar Bell was born near Lexington, Ohio September 5, 1845.
In 1864 she came with her parents to Iowa, what was known as the far west, and settled on a farm north of Milton known as the Scott Bonar farm.
She was united in marriage to Robert P. Bell in 1866. Six children were born to this union, four girls, and two boys. One girl, Mrs. Susan Hancox departed this life, July 17, 1907.
After her marriage she returned to Ohio and lived there for about one year. She then returned to Iowa and settled on a farm known as the old Bell place where she lived for more that 40 years. In 1908 she moved to Milton and has since lived in a beautiful home in the northeast part of the city.
On the evening of March 21, 1922, she made another move, this time for Heaven, the Home of the Soul, and soon passed one of the gates on the east, or west, or north, or south, and is at home forever.
In her early teens she felt her need of a Savior, professed faith in Jesus Christ, and identified herself with the church. She developed into a strong Christian life; strong in Bible study; strong in prayer; strong in church attendance; strong in sympathy and helpfulness to all, To be acquainted with Mrs. Bell was to love her.
She departed this life March 21, 1922, aged 76 years, 6 months and 16 days.
She leaves to mourn their loss, a husband, Robert P. Bell, one brother Scott Bonar of Milton Iowa, one sister Mrs. Martha Burchett of Moulton Iowa, five children: Mrs. Eva Hargrove of Milton, Mrs. Elizabeth Nagle of Red Oak, Clayton Bell of Milton, William B. Bell of Washington D.C. and Mrs. Mary Wilson of Milton. All the children living are present except William B. who is not able to come. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
"Gone but not forgotten." Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep from which none ever wake to weep." "We are marching to Zion, beautiful beautiful Zion, we are marching upward to Zion the beautiful City of God."
Funeral services conducted by Rev. S.D. McCracken from the Presbyterian church amid a great concourse of people. The flowers were many and beautiful.
The text used was one that was very dear to the departed, John 14: 1-3.
I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
