George Washington Jack - Died at Bentonsport Friday afternoon April 8, 1908. He was born November 2, 1834 in Morgan Co., OH. There were 12 children in the family and 3 survive him: Lydia Ann of Parkerville, AL; J. Thompson of Ft. Madison and Eva of Amity, OR. Came to Van Buren Co. in 1856 to Vernon. Worked at stone cutting, later sold paper for Bentonsport paper mills. To Bentonsport in 1861. In 1867 in mercantile business for 16 years. Also in business in Keosauqua and Bonaparte for 3 years. Married on February 4, 1859 to Elizabeth Hart. Eight children: Delbert A.; Ella L.; Edwin F..; George L.; Clara E.; Chester C. and Albert. All survive except Ella L. and Chester C. Wife died March 29, 1882 at age 43 years, 7 months, 28 days. On January 4, 1887 he married Mary E. Brown who survives. She was a mother to his large family. F-Bentonsport Cemetery, Bentonsport.
