Christopher Wright - Born County Wexford, Ireland on July 8, 1833 and died at Keosauqua February 23, 1908 at age 74 years, 7 months, 15 days. At age 21 came to America with family of his uncle, Joseph Warren. Voyage 9 weeks. Stopped at St. Louis with friends from Ireland, then came to Van Buren Co. where their friends and relatives, the Tackaberrys, had settled. Mr. Wright made his home with the Warrens and Tackaberrys till March 14, 1858 when he married Miss Eliza A. Cochran. Five children, two of whom died in infancy. Wife died November 29, 1867, leaving 3 small children. On December 24, 1868 Mr. Wright married Mrs. Martha Hearn and lived together 40 years. Had 3 daughters. Of Mr. Wright's brothers and sisters, only 2 are alive: Mr. John Wright of Reno, NV and Mrs. Ann Copeland of Ireland. Four children preceded him in death, a son and daughter who died in infancy; Mrs. Margaret Craig who died in 1902 and Mrs. Elizabeth Eyestone who died March 27, 1907. Four children survive: John Wright; Mrs. Eva Anna Wyckoff of Camden, NJ, and Misses Alice and Mary Wright. For 38 years he farmed near Keosauqua. F-Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua.
