Aaron Harvey Day 1838-1908

Aaron Harvey Day - Son of Timothy and Elizabeth Edwards Day was born Hamilton Co., OH on May 14, 1838 and died Keosauqua, IA February 12, 1908. Age 69 years, 8 months, 28 days. He was of a family of 7. Surviving members of the family are: I. B. Day of Keosauqua; Mrs. Alma Whitaker of Santa Rosa, CA and Mrs. Eliza Culbertson now in OH. Mr. Day's father was one of the earliest settlers coming to IA in 1835. Returning to OH he came again west in 1837 and purchased 3,700 acres of land in what later was known as Union and Cedar Twp. Timothy was member of the 1856-57 convention that framed the constitution of the State of IA. Mr. A. H. Day was in Union and Cedar Twp. He had brother, I. B. Day. Married on February 16, 1864 to Anna Fox of Van Buren Co. Marriage lasted 38 years. Had 10 children. Those now living are: Rhoda F. (Mrs. S. W. McCullough) of Keosauqua; Dr. Wm. R. of Moravia, IA; Oliver L. of Fairfield, IA; Timothy of Stockport, IA; Albert of Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Day died at her home in Cedar Twp. on February 25, 1902. After her death, Mr. Day moved to Keosauqua with Mr. & Mrs. McCullough. F-Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua.
