Washington Brown - Born Huntingdon Co., PA on February 11, 1813. Died in Keosauqua, LA June 21, 1905; 92 years, 4 months, 10 days. Youngest of 11 children and the last to die. At age 19 , or in 1832, he moved near Lancaster, OH. To IA in 1848 to Keosauqua, Van Buren Co., IA. In 1835 married Mary Long; 8 children. All preceded him in death except one son, S. M. Brown and one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Kennedy. His wife died July 16, 1893. Since then at home of son, S. M. Brown of Keosauqua. Civil War - Co. C. 37th LA Inf. F-Center Chapel Cemetery, Keosauqua.
