John Lyon - Born Milton, NY on August 12, 1817. Died at Dexter, IA January 30, 1905. Age 87 days, 5 months, 18 days. Pioneer resident of Van Buren Co. Lived at Pierceville more than 65 years. Married on February 10, 1839 to Sarah Canfield in NY State and shortly moved to Van Buren Co. He was a blacksmith and wagon maker. After 40 years of marriage his wife died more than a quarter century ago. Four sons and 1 daughter. Two sons, Charles H. and Francis M., preceded him in death. Daughter Mrs. Mary Jewett lives in OK. One son, John C. at Arroyo Grande, CA and youngest son, Horace G., Gordon, NE. Past 10 years made his home with son, C. H. Lyon at Dexter. Buried February 1, 1905. F-Dibble Cemetery, Stockport.
