Joseph A. Kean - One of pioneer settlers died in Bonaparte August 5, 1904, 87 years, 27 days. Born in Beaver Co., PA on July 8, 1817. Moved with father's family to Ohio in 1824 then to Michigan in 1836. Came to IA April 1838 and visited sister, Mrs. Johnson Meek. In May came to Bonaparte where he lived 66 years. Married Elizabeth Williamson at home of Mr. and Mrs. William Cassidy in Bonaparte on April 8, 1841. Seven children, 3 sons, 4 daughters. One daughter and 3 sons preceded him in death. Three daughters: Helen and Emma at home. Mrs. G. W. Barber of Libertyville, IA and one grandson, Harrie J. Barber of Libertyville. The funeral was August 7, 1904.
