Tilman Gray died at his home one mile north of this city April 20, 1904. He was born in Rush County Indiana, July 31, 1839 and was 64 years, 8 months and 19 days old at the time of his death. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1841 or when Tilman was two years old. Mr. Gray, his father, went back to Indiana on business and died while there. The mother died in 1867 but was helpless the last 5 or 6 years of her life. Tilman cared for her as constant and carefully as a mother could care for a helpless child. There is but one surviving member of the family Mrs. J.A. Mowre of our city. The funeral was from her home at 3 p.m. the 21st, T.A. Renfro conducting the service, the interment in the new cemetery. Thus passes from us a good man loved and respected by all.
