Mrs. Charley Kunzman, 76, Douds, died Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 1:45 p.m. at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua. She had been in poor health the last two years and became seriously ill Wednesday morning when she was taken to the hospital.

Retta Roush was born near Douds and spent most of her life in that community. At the time of her death she was living with Mr. Kunzman on a farm near Douds, where they had lived for 12 years.

She was married Sept. 29, 1897, to Charley Kunzman. Since girlhood she was a member of the Methodist church. She was also a member of the Mt. Moriah-Zion Lutheran church ladies aid society.

Surviving besides her husband, are one son, Samuel Kunzman of Selma; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Glassford of Ottumwa, Mrs. Emma Koogler of Douds, Mrs. Bessie Dooley of Selma, Mrs. Berniece Hamilton of Eldon, and Mrs. Marjorie Roush of Chicago, 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She also leaves two brothers, Leonard Roush of Douds and Ray Roush of Mt. Sterling, and three sisters, Mrs. May Stagers, Mrs. Wortha Elsensohn, and Mrs. Weltha Elsensohn all of Douds.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Pedrick Funeral Home at Douds. Burial was in the Leando Cemetery
