Obituary
WAGNER

Died, at his home on Washington street, Bonaparte, Iowa, July 27th, 1894, Benjamin Wagner.

Deceased was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, September 14, 1817, there he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Margaret Shroyer, January 25, 1842.

They came to Iowa in 1856 and settled in Mount Pleasants [sic]. In 1866 they moved to a farm two miles southeast of Bonaparte, where they resided until February 1888, when they came to Bonaparte where they lived at the time of his death. Three sons and four daughters, one daughter died in childhood, were born to the union.

Mr. Wagner was an affectionate parent, loving father and an obliging neighbor. He had the [confidence] of his fellow citizens and was always true to his trust. He was a member of the board of supervisors of the county for four years. He leaves to mourn their loss, his companion and six children; Mrs. J.F. [Stuart], Shanadoah [sic], Iowa; William of Moberly, Mo.; Charles of Des Moines, Ia, Mollie, Benjamin and Mrs. K[ate?] Cummings, of Bonaparte; [of his] father's family three brothers remain, two residing in Farmington, Iowa and one in Ohio.

The funeral took place from his late residence on Sunday, July 2[9]th. Rev. George W. Barber, of E[ldon], Iowa, officiating, and the remains were buried in the Bonaparte cemetery.
