MABEL LAUGHLIN

Little Mabel Victoria Laughlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Laughlin, was born Feb. 22, 1905 and died Oct. 19, 1906, at her home about 4 miles north-east of Douds. She was a kind, loving and beautiful child, and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She leaves her parents, one brother and sister, and a number of friends to mourn for her. While she and her brother were playing in the field where their papa was at work and had a small pile of brush burning, she got too near the fire and fell into it, her clothing igniting and burning her terribly before her papa could get to her from the part of the field where he was working. She was taken home at once and all possible was done that human hands and medical assistance could do, but in about six hours her suffering ceased in death. She was laid to rest in the Mount Moriah cemetery, following funeral services conducted by Rev. Berg of Douds Leando.
