Hattie Jenkins Cles, daughter of John S. and Victoria Jenkins, was born in Scotland County Missouri, February 16, 1877. When she was about 10 years of age, she moved to Iowa with her parents. She departed this life at her farm home seven miles southwest of Milton, November 18, 1934, at the age of 57 years, 9 months and 2 days.
She was united in marriage to William Cles, March 8, 1904. To this union were born two sons, one dying in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death, September 24, 1925. Besides her son, Everett and his wife Opal, she leaves to mourn their loss two sisters, Ora Casady of San Diego California and Alta Hagler of Milton, and two brothers, Solly and Edward Jenkins of Milton. Her parents and one brother, Asa preceded her in death.
She united with the Methodist church at Milton when a girl and remained faithful to her belief to the end. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a kind and loyal daughter, a loving sister, a faithful wife and a devoted mother.
Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ, Sunday morning at 11:00 with the Rev. York of Keota officiating.
Music for the services was furnished by a quartette consisting of Mrs. J.I. Sells, Mrs. M.E. Atkins, D.A. Miller, and Gay Morgan. Miss Marion Marshall was accompanist.
I am not related, and am copying this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
