OBITUARY

MRS. ALEXANDER FIX

Eliza A. Trites, daughter of William and Mary Trites, was born Sept. 22, 1827, at St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. At about the age of ten with her parents she moved to Steubenville, Ohio. And in 1841 the family came to Bonaparte, Iowa, and she lived continually in Van Buren county until date of her death, June 14, 1906. About 1847 she married David Merideth who died a few years afterward. By this marriage there were four children; two died in infancy, and Mrs. Josephine Cretcher of Cantril and William Merideth of Gibbs, Mo., who were present at the funeral. On the 18th day of August, 1859, she was united in marriage with Alexander Fix, who survives her. By this marriage there were five children; two died in infancy, the three remaining are Mrs. Ellen Cretcher of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. Hattie Prall of Muskogee, I.T., and Mrs. Lizzie Wollam of Cantril, all were present at the funeral. A good many years ago she united with the M. E. church at Vernon and ever after continued in this faith. About twenty years ago her health failing the family moved to Cantril and during all this time she was an invalid, but excepting the last four or five years she was able most of the time to look after her household affairs. During the last three years she had been a great sufferer, but [cut-off]

The funeral was Sat. June 16 at 10:30 a.m. from the house conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert assisted by Eld. Paul E. Wr[cut-off]. She was laid to rest in Cantril Evergreen Cemetery.
