EDNA MAY WELLS PASSES AWAY

Edna May Wells, daughter of W. H. and Emma A. Arnold was born in Van Buren Co. Iowa, Jan. 19, 1881, died Oct. 3, 1908. She was married to H. C. Wells Dec. 21, 1904. To this union two bright little boys were born, Cecil Wiley, aged 3 years and Leonard Edward, aged 14 mo. These together with the husband, father, mother, four sisters, three brothers and a host of friends, uncles, aunts and other relatives are left to mourn the death of the deceased, two sisters having preceeded her to the spirit land. She was a true and loving wife, a devoted mother and an affectionate daughter and sister. She united with the Christian church of Keosauqua about the age of 16 years, which membership she still retains. Mrs. Wells had been sick only about a week and her death came as a surprise to all. She was first taken with a very bad throat, other ailments set up and finally affected her lungs to so great an extent as to result in death.

The Voice of Sorrow.

Edna sleeps no more to waken,
with the rising of the sun;
In death she sleeps,
her life is taken
Yes her earthly work is done.
Closed her eyes,
no more to waken;
Hushed her voice,
and cold her hands
In vain our cries;
our hearts are broken,
Held in gloom by sorrow's lands.

The Voice of Hope

Edna lives, no more to suffer
pain or sorrow, toil or care,
In Heaven she lives with Christ her Savior,
Happy now forever there.
Yes she lives the life eternal
over which death has no sway;
With Christ she lives in joy supernal
He is Life and Truth and Way.

A Friend

The funeral services were held from the Christian church Sunday at 2 p.m. conducted by Elder Moody of Keosauqua assisted by Rev. Gilbert, pastor of the M. E. church at this place. Interment was made in the Maple Grove cemetary.
