Mrs. C. Wallis Dies on Thanksgiving Day
The death of Mrs. Catherine L. Wallis occurred Thursday morning at four o’clock at Graham hospital, where she has been a patient since July 21 of this year. Death finally resulted from pneumonia, from which Mrs. Wallis was unable to recover, owing to her advanced age.
Catherine L. Brooks was born February 17, 1838, and died November 27, 1924, at the age of eighty-six years, nine months and ten days. She was united in marriage to H.D. Wallis at Milton Iowa in 1854. Mr. Wallis preceded his wife in death in July 1914. The family came to Keokuk in 1890, in which city Mrs. Wallis lived until her death. Her home was at 727 Carroll Street for a number of years. She was affiliated with the Methodist Protestant Church.
Mrs. Wallis is survived by the following children: Mrs. Alice Trebilcock of Dodge City Kansas, Mrs. I.F. Archer of Seattle Washington and J.C. Wallis of Keokuk Iowa. Seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at ten o’clock from the residence of J.C. Wallis 1126 Blondeau Street.
