Robert Prall was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, August 7, 1832, and died at his home in Des Moines township Monday afternoon March 3, 1908, aged 75 years, 4 months and 16 days. He moved with his parents to Clark county, Indiana, in 1842, and in 1852 he moved to Van Buren county, Iowa, and located on the farm where he died. He was married to Miss Eliza Singleton in 1855. To them four children were born, viz., Asa William, who resides in Keosauqua, Mrs. Frances Craig, who died some years ago, Mrs. Carrie Shipley, who lives near the home farm, and Mrs. Della Wilson, who lives in the parental home. The widow, three children and six grandchildren remain to mourn the loss of their loved one. Mr. Prall was an industrious, honest and successful farmer. Though not a member of the church, he taught his children to observe many of the rules of christian right and principle as he himself observed them. He was a kind neighbor and universally esteemed by his acquaintances. The funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday, March 24, the sermon being by Rev. Thorn of the Keosauqua M. E. church, assisted by the M. E. choir of that church. The burial was in the Prall cemetery, a large concourse of people being present.
