DEATH OF JOHN CLARK

John K. Clark died at his home north of Cantril, Monday of this week, aged 71 years, 7 months and 20 days, after a brief illness. Deceased was born in Westmoreland county, Penna., Sept. 28th, 1842. December 18, 1879, in his native state, he married to Alice L. Ashbangh. To them six children were born. One died in infancy and the remaining members of the family are James R. of Des Moines, Mrs. Ruth Linn of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. Agnes Jones of Corydon and Homer and Grover of Cantril. He also leaves eight grand children and one brotner [sic], Rev. James B. Clark of Dayton, New Jersey. Another brother, Thomas Clark, who resided in Canada, preceded him in death but a few weeks, notice of which appears elsewhere in this issue of the Tribune.

Mr. Clark and wife came to Iowa in April, 1880, and purchased a farm near Selma, where he resided until the spring of 1896 when he removed to the family home near Cantril.

When a young man he united with the Presbyterian church at Murraysville, Pa., and after coming to Iowa with the Presbyterian church at Lybertyville [sic] and later with the Methodist church, of which he was a faithful member until called home. He was a good neighbor, a faithful husband, a kind father, and loved by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the home on Home Prairie, Tuesday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Smith of Cantril with interment in the Hoskins cemetery.
