Daniel McLane was born in Barber county, West Virginia, January 4th, 1836, and died at his home in Cantril, Iowa, January 22nd, 1917, at the age of 81 years and 18 days.

He was married to Miss Drissilla Bennett August 26th, 1858, and she was taken from him within a few years after marriage. He was married to his present wife September 2, 1869.

He was the father of nine children A*zina M., Charles L., Florence E., William B., Dora V., Blanche O., Alva [R?], Harry L. and Martha S., all of whom are living except Florence E. and Dora V.

He moved from West Virginia to Missouri in 1858, and from there to Iowa in 1897.

He was converted and joined the church in early manhood and was an active, earnest Christian all of his life. He was a loving husband, a kind father, a good neighbor and an earnest, faithful Christian.

Funeral services were held in the Cantril M. E. church of which he was a member on Wednesday, January 24, conducted by Rev. W. H. Jones. Rev. Jones spoke from Rev. 21, 4. Burial was made in Cantril Maple Grove cemetery.
