WM. WALLACE DREW

Wm. Wallace Drew, son of Elisha and Salome Drew, was born at Kenton, Ohio, April 6, 1838, and died at his home in Cantril, Friday, September 29, 1922, aged 84 years, 5 months and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Reeves, in July 1858. She preceded him in death some 19 years, having passed from this life March 13, 1903. To this union seven children were born, four of these having preceded him in death, Mary Sophina, Wm. Jr., Rosa and John Newton.

He enlisted in the Union army in 1864, and served his country faithfully until the close of the civil war. He came into the Cantril Christian church as a charter member in 1879, having made the good confession several years before at the old Egypt church. He remained a faithful member until death, ever living a Christian life of unquestionable character.

In December 1915 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Potorff who is left to mourn his departure. Besides his widow he leaves three children [sic], Mrs. Minnie Sphoor, Kosh Kong, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Sophrina Smith; five children [sic - possibly should be step children?], 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the First Christian Church, Cantril, Rev. Herbert C. Shaw, pastor, offianting [sic]. Burial in Cantril cemetery.

A number of Civil War veterans and a squad of World War veterans participated in the services.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone with additional information on the family of Elisha and Salome Drew, especially their son Joseph.
