Joshua Reneker, Jr., 95, of rural Douds died Wednesday April 30, 2003, at his home. He was born Dec 28, 1907 in the Oak Grove community east of Douds to Joshua and Susan Sampson Reneker. He married Zona Hanshaw Feb. 20, 1932 in Lancaster, MO. She died Oct. 23, 1994. He graduated from Douds High School and spent his life farming in the Oak Grove neighborhood. He was active in the former Oak Grove Church and in its current restoration and was a regular attendee at the Selma Jam country music festivals. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Thorn of Wever, a son, Gary Reneker and his wife, Crystal of Fairfield, four grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenton Thorn, a son-in-law, Edgar Thorn, three brothers, Glen, Paul and Ray Reneker and two sisters, Daisy Strait and Esther Strait.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. Memorials to Oak Grove Church restoration may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 801 West Tyler Av., Fairfield 52556.
