Obituary

Robert William Forbes, eldest son of Andrew and Eura Forbes, was born near Keosauqua, Van Buren county, Iowa, Dec. 22, 1870. Died at his home near Saguache, Colo., January 23. 1917, aged 46 years, 1 month, 1 day.

His boyhood days were spent on a farm in Van Buren county. At the age of 21 years he came with his parents to Saguache, Colo. He was married to Lettie B. Fultz, Sept. 29, 1898, one son was born who died in infancy. The wife passed away March 30, 1900. He was married to Ella Sherod of Mt. Zion, Iowa, Sept, 2, 1901. He leaves to mourn his death a wife, two sons and two daughters, Mont, aged 13 years, Dorothy, Bernandine and Charles, aged six months, his father and brothers, James, Byron and Grover.

Truly it can be said that a good man has been called from us. His death is not only a sad affliction to his bereaved family, but to the whole community where he was so widely known and so much esteemed.

Mr. Forbes was a good friend and neighbor, a kind husband, an indulgent father, an obliging neighbor. He leaves many relatives and warm friends in Iowa whose eyes will moisten at the sad news of his death.

The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon from the home south of town, Rev. Kern officiating.

The cause of death was blackleg, contracted while vaccinating cattle.
