ANOTHER GOOD WOMAM [sic] GONE
MRS. MARY A. AKERS DIED SUDDENLY THURSDAY OF LAST WEEK

On Thursday, December 7, 1916, Mrs. Mary Ann Akers, widow of the late Henry C. Akers and mother of Hon. Clarence R. Akers, ended her earthly career at her home at Akersville, Fulton county. The venerable mother, who was quite active for one of her years, had gone to a cave near the house to get some apples when she was stricken with heart failure and was found dead by members of the family shortly afterwards.

Mrs. Akers was a daughter of Zedic and Rachel Whitfield and was born near Mattie on August 3 1856. During the year 1874 she was united in marriage with Henry C. Akers. This union was blessed with two children, Hon. Clarence R. Akers and Ida, wife of Prof. S. E. Walters, both of whom survive and resided with their mother at the old homestead. One brother, Jacob Whitfield, of Breezewood, and two sisters Mrs. Andrew Nycum, of Everett, and Mrs. Frank Thomas, of Altoona, also survive.
