CHAS. LANGFORD

Chas. Langford, a highly respected citizen and a life-long resident of Van Buren county, died at his home near Mt. Sterling, Dec. 2, 1909, in the 64th year of his age. He was a sufferer for about a month, his trouble being diabetes and gangrene. On account of the gangrene he had decided to have his foot amputated and set Wednesday as the day for the operation. But on the previous Sunday his fever arose and he continued to grow worse until his death on the following Thursday. He was born near Keosauqua, Feb. 4, 1846. He was united in marriage to Anna E. Cretcher, who survives him. To this union were born four children, one son and three daughters, viz., Harry, who resides at home; Mrs. Pearl Griffitts and Mrs. Freddie Struble, both of Cantril, and Mrs. Jennie King, of Boise, Idaho. He also leaves eleven grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. He was a good citizen and neighbor and was highly respected in the community where he was best known. He was of a jovial disposition, and hence numbered his friends by the number of his acquaintances. The funeral was held from the home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, the services being conducted by Eld. F. J. Yokley, pastor of the Christian church at Cantril and the body was interred in the Harness cemetery.
