Services will be held Thursday at 2 pm for William Hols, 89, who, after being seriously ill for the past two weeks, died Monday in the University hospital, Iowa City. The Rev M. Ellsworth Walker will officiate the services in the Methodist church, Farmington. Burial will be at Greenglade cemetery. Miller funeral home, Farmington, is in charge.
Born Nov 5, 1870, in Osterbeck, Holland, Hols came to America when he was 22 and spent most of his life farming in southeastern Iowa. He lived in Pella until recently.
The son of Jacob and Cornelia Weekheart Hols, he married Laura Rector Nov 5, 1895. He was a member of the Second Reformed church of Pella and for 50 years a member of Mt Moriah Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. George Swift, Keokuk, Mrs. Harry Grimwood, Ft. Madison, and Mrs. Peter Pfeifer, Chicago, Ill, one son, John Hols, Burlington, 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
His wife, one son and daughter, four brothers and six sisters are dead.Note: the above is taken from newspaper obit, the spelling of mothers maiden name should be Wichhart.
