Merrill "Mike" Geraghty died on November 14, 2006 in Sun Lakes, Arizona at the age of 91 years. He was a former superintendent of school in Selma, Iowa.
I understand that his picture is in a historical place in Selma, so we would like the community to know of his passing.
I am now 65 years old and went to school in Selma for 2nd, 3rd, 4th grades. These were memorable times for me and my family. We lived in the teacherage at the bottom of the hill from the school.

Merrill "Mike" Douglas Geraghty, 91, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on November 14, 2006. Mike was born in Norton, Kansas on November 21, 1914. He received a B.A. from Kansas State University and an M.A. from the University of Nebraska. He was married to Edna Geraghty for over sixty years. He has been a resident of Sun Lakes since 1975. Mike is survived by his daughter, Sandra, four sons, Jim, Mike, Dennis, Dan, two grandchildren, Christopher and Patricia, two great granddaughters, Katarina and Alisha, daughters-in-law, Susan and Loreen. His wife, Edna, and son, Tom, preceded him in death. Services to be held on Saturday, November 18, with viewing and Rosary at 9:00 a.m. Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Steven's Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd., Sun Lakes (followed by graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa. Arrangements entrusted to Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses, Mesa.
