B.F. Sheets was born in West Virginia (Wood County) on January 5, 1842, and died at his home in Memphis, Mo., on Tuesday, December 31, 1912, aged 70 years,11 months and 26 days.
Mr. Sheets moved to Clark County Mo., when about twelve years of age. After his marriage in 1860 he moved to Van Buren County, Iowa and came to Memphis six years ago. He was one of a family of 11 children, 6 of whom are living to mourn thier losss, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
On October 21, 1860,he was united in marriage to Rebecca Ann Mitchell. To this union one child was born - Henrietta. He and wife lived only a few years together, when she was called to her eternal home.
On May 8, 1870, he married Harriet Hurst. To this union were born 8 children - one of whom, Lizzie, died in childhood.
Those living and now bowed down with their mother in great sadness are: Henry Edgar, Charles Wesley, Ruhama, Anna Belle, Elzie Franklin, Harlan and Edith.
Mr. Sheets united with the Baptist church with his first wife about fifty years ago - later uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church, and has been a consistent member of same for twenty-four years.
