Henry E. Sheets
Henry E. Sheets eldest son of Frank and Harriet Hurst Sheets was born August 5, 1871, near Mt. Sterling, Iowa, and passed away in his home at Mt. Sterling, Tuesday evening at the age of 73 years and 24 days. He grew to manhood on his father's farm near Mt. Sterling. He engaged in various pursuits being especially successful in painting and paper hanging.
Sept. 23, 1903, he was united in marriage to Rose B. Watkins (correctly Rosabel) at her parent's home in Willits, Iowa. To this union were born three children, Leonard L. Sheets, Mrs. Hazel Alexander, and Edgar T. (correctly Franklin) Sheets, all of Mt. Sterling vicinity. The mother and three children survive the father and husband. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Edgar Leon and Donald Gene Alexander and Hazel Rosalee Sheets; three brothers and three sisters, Chas. of near Keosauqua, Mrs. Ruie Eberhard of Spokane, Wash., Anna Linn of Mt. Sterling, Elza of Milton,Iowa, Harlan of Brookfiled, Mo., and Mrs. Edith Myers of Albany, Ore., and a number of other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, a sister, Lizzie, a half sister, Mrs. Effie (correctly Etta) Hewitt, and a little grandson, Claude Edgar Sheets.
Mr. Sheets became a Christian in 1926 and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a genial disposition and loved to have a his friends visit with him.
On Dec. 7,194, he was stricken with paralysis of the nerves and since that time has been a semi-invalid and at times during the past months a great sufferer.
Fuenral services were held Agust 31 at Mt. Sterling Methodist church, Rev. Edna M. Fellows officiating. Interment at Center Chapel. Pallbearers, Cyrus Kingsbury, Dale Zollars, Gerorge Gares, Elmer Tyalor, Orrie Shannon and A.M. Kendall. (The name A.M.Kendall has been marked out and the name W. Alexander added.) Soloist, Keith Gaston.
