KEOSAUQUA-Russell Todd Heald, 71, retired farmer and a hardware dealer at Mount Sterling for 30 years, died about 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks.
The son of Charles and Julia Todd Heald, he was born July 18, 1897, in Scotland County, Missouri, near Mount Sterling. He was married to Grace Carnahan of Cantril, Sept. 8, 1921. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Arthur Luvene of Keosauqua and Glenn of Dubuque; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly (Miller) Blair of Mount Sterling and Mrs. Betty (Gordon) Warrington of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy (James) Sullivan of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. Helen (Jack) Dowling of Dunedin, Fla., and Mrs. Maude (Ralph) McElroy of Ottumwa; 16 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. today at Mount Sterling United Methodist Church, with the Rev, Herbert Phillips, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Harness Cemetery. Catcott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Note: Russell was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Raymond Heald, and by a grandson, Todd Leslie Heald.
