Victim Dies From Injury Due to Fall

Mrs. Kate Tucker Fails to Recover Following Plunge on Stones

Death shortly before noon today claimed Mrs. Kate E. Tucker, 86, who fell from a ladder yesterday afternoon at her home, 237 Penn street, while trimming her rose bushes. The long fall upon some stepping stones at the door of her house fractured the aged woman's skull and she never regained consciousness.

Mrs. Tucker had resided in Pasadena for more than forty years. She was the widow of John Tucker and had one son, James, who died some time ago. She and her son made their home for many years on Los Robles avenue near Washington street but a score of years ago she sold that property and moved to her Penn street home, where she was happy and contented working among the flowers she loved so well.

The police investigation of the accident showed that two Will sisters, who made their home with Mrs. Tucker, found the injured woman about five minutes after she had fallen from the ladder. Mrs. Tucker had, apparently, reached out too far to trim some climbing roses on the side of her home when the ladder slipped, pitching her head first to the ground.

Thomas Randall of Glendale is said to be Mrs. Tucker's closest relative. He is said to be a nephew but the authorities were not able to locate him as his aunt did not have his address.

Love for Beautiful Roses Brings Death to Aged Woman

Climbing Ladder to Secure Bouquet, She Falls And Fractures Skull

There is a subtle lure that lies in the heart of a rose. A hypnosis in the bursting bud.

Mrs. Tucker knew. She was a real lover of the rose. Not that she loved other flowers less.

Daily, despite her 83 years, Mrs. Kate E. Tucker went into the garden of her home at 237 Penn street, Pasadena, to cut a bouquet of roses.

She sent out to cut a bunch of roses for the breakfast table. Higher on the trellis grew some beauties.

Mrs. Tucker climbed a ladder. A misstep. She fell.

She died today of skull fracture in Pasadena Hospital. Around her are banked heaps and heaps of…roses.
