Good Woman Gone.
[Della Rigsby was born August 22, 1869, and died in Bonaparte, Iowa, May 18, 1899, aged 29 years, 8 months and 27 days.]
The deceased has made her home in Bonaparte for about nine years, and was very much esteemed by all who knew her. She was one of those lovely characters to whom the world looks bright at all times, and therefore did much good in shedding rays of light and of hopefulness to those about her. She was the oldest of four girls in the family, and, her mother dying when these children were quite young, she acted the part of the deceased parent in raising and training them.
Her funeral occurred from the Methodist church in Bonaparte, of which she was a member, on Sunday afternoon, May 21, 1899, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. J. Smith, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery.
"In the cold, moist earth we laid her,
When the forests cast the leaf,
And we wept that one so lovely
Should have a life so brief;
Yet not unmeet [sic] it was that one
Like that young friend of ours,
So gentle and so beautiful,
Should perish with the flowers."-----------
