Marion Melvin Marmion, 71, of Burlington, died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born June 9, 1927, in Farmington he was the son of Ben F. Marmion and Florence M. Woodruff Marmion. On June 28, 1947, he married Verna M. McCarty.
He was a 1947 graduate of Farmington High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 135 of Burlington, Southeastern Community College Blackhawk Booster Club and Young's Lake. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, William Marmion of West Burlington, David Marmion of Burlington, Robert Marmion of Wever and Chris Marmion of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Judy Bridges of Burlington and Kathyrn Mennen of West Burlington; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Marmion of Keosauqua.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
The funeral service was Thursday, April 1, in Lunning Chapel, Burlington, with the Reverend David Mixon officiating. Burial was in Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington, with military rites conducted by the American Legion of Farmington.
Memorials have been established for Young's Lake or to donor's choice.
