Lela L. Shipley, 82, of Keosauqua died Friday, January 8, 1999 at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.

She was born July 3, 1916 near Lebanon to Kerns and Emma Steinburgh Sadler. She married S. Harold Shipley Jan. 14, 1936 in Memphis, MO. They farmed in the Lebanon community and moved to Keosauqa in 1967. She was employed twenty-two years in the housekeeping department of Van Buren County Hospital.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne of Lisbon and Don of Keosauqa, two daughters, Myrna Chaney of Des Moines and Sharon Smith of Cantril, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, George Sadler.
