Seth Harold Shipley, 86, of Keosauqua, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 1997, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.

He was born March 20, 1911 south of Keosauqua to Samuel and Grace Nichols Shipley. He married Lela Sadler January 14, 1936, in Memphis, Missouri. They farmed in the Lebanon community and moved to Keosauqua in 1967.

He was employed many years at Barker Wire Products Co. in Keosauqua.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Wayne of Lisbon and Don of Keosauqa, two daughters, Myrna Chaney of Des Moines and sharon Smith of Cantril, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a brother, Ed Shipley of Keosauqa and a sister, Martha Anderson of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Howard Shipley and two sisters, Cleo Davison and Bessie Kingsbury.
