William R. Kerr, 80, Wayland, Mo, died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 18,1986 at the Scotland County Nursing Home, Memphis, Mo. Mr. Kerr was born Sept. 13, 1905 at Bonaparte and was the former owner-operator of the Record-Republican newspaper in Bonaparte, and publisher for four years of the Donnellson Star newspaper. He was a member of the Kahoka Presbyterian Church, LaFayette Chapter No. 61 of Royal Arch Masons of Bonaparte, Masonic Lodge No. 73 AF & AM, and Magnolia Chapter No. 27 of the Order of Eastern Star. On Sept. 24, 1927, at Lewistown, Ill., he married Dorothy F. Westfall, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. B.W. (Patricia) Jones, Cherokee Village, Ak. a brother, Arlie Kerr, Loveland, Colo., three sisters, Faye Hainline, Bonaparte, Florabelle Ford, Douds, IA. and Gertrude Lockwood, Winter Haven, FL., seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son William F. Kerr, two brothers and three sisters. His parents were George M. and Sadie I. Lawrence Kerr. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21, 1986 at the Bonaparte Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Harden officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Foundation. Contributions may be made at the Haufbauer Funeral Home.
