Your birth was a precious gift to me,
Little did I know best friends we'd be.
For the perfect birthday gift I'd search for hours.
Now all I can give you is a bonquet of flowers.
I know you are safe and happy although far away,
I hope that thought will get me thru this day.
Parents to protect you, safe and sound,
Not a more false promise can ever be found.
I Knew a girl so tender and kind,
A better daughter, no one could find.
Her family, her friends, she always put first,
Losing your child - Nothing is worse.
It's hard giving up my dreams for you, Cherish the memories is all I can do.
I'm not the only one missing you so,
Your brothers, your sis and others you know,
Wish more than anything you didn't have to go.
Your friends still come over to talk about you,
Missing your laugh, advice, they're lost so.
Your high school class ring was delivered today,
It took hours to choose it that day.
Your 17th birthday you were looking forward to,
Homecoming, dances, graduation to mention a few.
Kelli, you left without saying goodbye,
Oh how we miss you and try not to cry.
So for now I must let you go,
Although my heart is aching so.
One day I'll hold you close again,
We'll laugh, resume life then.
Now you are gone and all I can do,
Is trust God has special plans for you.
In my heart Miss Kelli, you're still alive,
Until in Heaven, I too will arrive.
