Revere woman charged in death of her nephew

KAHOKA, Mo. - A Revere, Mo., woman has been charged with the involuntary manslaughter of her two-year-old nephew, Clark County Sheriff Donald Fallon reports.

Jean R. Lowery, 24, was arrested Wednesday after Fallon and Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Roger Gosney obtained a warrant following an investigation.

Fallon reports that Lowery caused the death of Michael Ross, when she reportedly struck him with her hand, causing the two-year-old to fall and strike his head on a bedpost.

Clark County Ambulance attendants, responding to a call from Lowery, took the youngster to a Kahoka doctor before transporting him to Keokuk Hospital, where he died. Attempts to revive the child with CPR failed.

Lowery is being held in the Clark County jail on $10,000 bond.
