HAWKEYE NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Strait of Pittsburg, Van Buren county, made a record in the marketing of eggs for 1919. During the year they sold 4,321 dozen eggs which brought them $1,630.71, being one dozen less than they marketed in the previous year. The price averaged 37 1/2 cents a dozen in 1919, while the average price for 1918 was 32 1/2 cents a dozen. The number of eggs mentioned includes only those marketed, not those eaten or used for hatching. They started the year with 529 hens and closed with 447.
