McIntosh Death Ruled Accidental
An official inquest and pathological examination last week held that the death of Russell McIntosh was caused by accidental skull fracture as opposed to coronary thrombosis (Heart attack) as had been preliminarily reported by Clark County, Mo., officials. The truck McIntosh was driving had left the road but had not upset.
Upon returning the body to Keosauqua and while preparing to embalm, Van Buren County Corner Harold Catcott noted an evident fracture of the basal skull. After talking with Missouri officials, it was decided to have an official inquest as to the cause of death.
A licensed Iowa pathologist made the examination and it was determined that the heart was normal and that cause of death was due to fracture of atlas vertebrae and basal skull fracture.
