BIRMINGHAM - A Van Buren county welfare director and a Birmingham man were killed in a two-car collision late Saturday morning about one-mile south of Birmingham on Highway 1.
Blondena Faye Hudson, 64, a resident of Keosauqua, collided with Warren Howard Whisler, 39, who lived on a farm two miles south of Birmingham with his parents. Highway Patrolman Leonard Weile said that Whisler was straddling the center line of the highway probably in an effort to pass another car. The two cars hit headon. Both drivers were killed instantly.
The woman's body was taken to Cattot funeral home, Keosauqua, where tentative plans for funeral services have been made, pending the arrival of her son, Quentin, from his home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be at the Keosauqua Christian church and burial will be in Moravia, her former home, July 5.
Warren Whisler, born March 24, 1921, the son of Howard and Laura Doty Whisler, was an employe of the Philco company for 12 years. Survivors include his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Jacobson, San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Hilda Felton, Udella. Services have not been set.
