County Superintendent Cornelia Hodges Resigns

Mrs. Cornelia C. Hodges has presented her resignation as county superintendent of schools of Van Buren county. She plans to be associated with Miss Verna Findley and Miss Mae Nish, former Van Buren county teachers, in the management and ownership of the Eau Clair Business college of Eau Claire, Wis.

Mrs. Hodges has served as county superintentdent of Van Buren county school longer than any other person, having been elected to that position in 1927. Her resignation is effective Jan. 1, 1942.

Previous to her election she had served as superintendent of the Huron schools, and she and her husband had taught at Cantril. Her husband died in 1923.

She is a graduate of the State Teacher college of Warrensburg, Mo., and has taken graduate work at the University of Iowa and the University of Chicago.

County Auditor Paul McBratney will call a special election, probably in November, of the 29 voters who according to law are qualified to vote for county superintendent. The person who is elected will continue in office until a successor is elected on the second Tuesday of May, 1942.
