SUPRISE PARTY
A group of 20 friends were invited to the T.E. Baker home, Friday evening Dec. 5, to a party for their daughter, Beulah. Progressive Cootie was the game of the evening and highest score prizes were won by Myrtle Black and Gladys Howard. Following the games dainty refreshments of fruit salad, cup cakes and coffee were served. The place cards were unique and were painted by Beulah to represent a surprise Christman box on the reverse side of which was the announcement, Roscoe Jeffrey and Beulah Baker married at Kahoka, Mo., Oct. 1, 1939. This comes as a surprise to the many friends of this young couple who extend congratulations and best wishes for their future happiness. Both were born and reared two miles west of Birmingham, Roscoe beint the son of E. Jeffrey and Beulah the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Baker. She has been very active in church and Sunday school of the Presbyterianchurch and has been the efficient teacher of the Beginners class since August 1, 1937. They will be at home after January 1, 1942, at Mt. Pleasant, he being employed at the Burlington Ordnance plant.
