MECHANIC MARRIES MAID

Two Bonaparte People Give Their
Friends a Little Surprise
Party, Oct. 29, 1902.

BEARD-TROUTMAN

Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1902, occurred the marriage of Arnold Beard and Miss Clare Troutman. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Troutman, Rev. W. C. Shepherd of Fairfield pronouncing the words that united the young people for better.

The parlors of the Troutman home were beautifully decorated with a profusion of ferns and chrysanthemums. As the clock pointed to 15 minutes of 7, the bride and groom appeared. Miss Clare was attired in a most becoming gown of white, and Mr. Beard wore a suit of black. The family of the bride and her grandmother, Mrs. C. A. Troutman, were the only witnesses present. Her mother, Mrs. S. S. Troutman, is just recovering from a long continued illness, but was able to witness the ceremony, and partake of the wedding dinner that followed.

Miss Clare Troutman has lived in Bonaparte all her life and it is fortunate for the community that she has married a young many of the same town and will make this her permanent home. She attended the public school of Bonaparte, completing the course in 1898, when she was graduated with high honors. She conducted a kindergarten very successfully for awhile, but since her mother's illness, being the eldest daughter, has discharged the duties of housekeeper.

Arnold Beard has not always lived in Bonaparte but sufficient time to have become identified as a citizen of long continued good standing. He is a son of William and Mary Beard and his early home was near Big Mound. For ten years or more Mr. Beard has followed his trade, that of carpentering, and every now and then perfects some invention. He is continually at work on a new idea and no doubt will some day be heard of outside of Bonaparte in the world of inventors.

Mr. and Mrs. Beard will reside at the Troutman home for the present.
