Downs-Swink.
Samuel Downs and Miss Mary Isabelle Swink were married Dec. 27, 1905, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Swink near New London, Iowa.
Rev. J. P. Cummings of Mt. Pleasant spoke the words that united these estimable young people. Quite a company of friends and relatives were present. The ceremony was followed by a sumptuous wedding feast.
Mrs. Downs is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Swink and is one of the brightest and most accomplished young ladies of that neighborhood.
Mr. Downs is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Downs of Harrisburg township, Van Buren county, and is in every respect a No. 1 young man.
They attended school at Howe's academy in Mt. Pleasant for the past two years. They will make an extended visit in Illinois and will begin housekeeping in the spring on the groom's farm in Harrisburg township. Mr. and Mrs. Downs both belong to families that are honored and respected and they also have the best wishes and esteem of their many friends.
