John Wallingford & wife to Catharine Detwiler

For the consideration of one thousand dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, we John Wallingford and Mary Jane, his wife, do hereby sell and convey to Catharine Detwiler the following described real estate to wit:

The east half of the east ½ of south east quarter of the south east quarter of section twenty two township sixty nine north of range eight west in Van Buren County State of Iowa. And we covenant that we are lawfully seized in fee simple of the aforementioned premises, that they are free from all incumbrances and that we will warrant and defend the title thereto against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.

On this the 11th day of April A.D. 1870 before me the undersigned, a justice of the peace came John Wallingford & Mary Jane his wife to me personally known to be the identical persons who signed the above deed as grantors and acknowledge the execution of the same to be their voluntary act and deed.
