Cupid's Deadly Work.

FARMINGTON, Ia., Jan. 28. ~ Weddings seem to be the order of the day in this part of the state. On Wednesday, January 18, at the residence of Rev. J. W. Froker, John Slee and Miss Clara Corwin, two of Farmington's estimable young people, were married. They have the best wishes of a host of friends.

Hugo Doeling and Miss Amanda Leelander, daughter of J. A., host of the Pilot house, one of the best known hotels in Iowa, were married on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., Rev. J. W. Froker officiating.

After the ceremony which united two loving hearts, the company were invited to partake of an elegant dinner, one bounteous in quantity and extraordinary in quality, such dinners as the Pilot house is noted for. After dinner congratulations were in order and were heartily bestowed. The newly married couple have gone
to housekeeping on the corner of Third and Elm, where they are glad to welcome their numerous friends, all of whom wish them lasting happiness.

At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. And Mrs. J. A. Eddy, on Wednesday evening, Jan. 25, Mr. J. W. Miller and Miss Laura Eddy were married at a 8 o'clock, Rev. Holton officiating. Mr. J. W. Miller is one of Farmington's leading business men, having been engaged in merchandizing for several years and has been very successful. While he is a successful business man, he is also pleasant, sociable and obliging and has a host of friends. Miss Laura is one of our best known and respected young ladies. While she is very quiet and modest in her manner, she is kind and warm-hearted, genial and pleasant and we hope and predict for her and her husband a happy marriage. The presents were numerous and costly and with them came the congratulations and good wishes of numerous friends.

Also at the home of the bride's parents Dr. and Mrs. G. R. Neff, on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock, Charles Westcott and Miss Minnie A. Neff, Rev. Hatton performing the marriage ceremony, only the immediate friends of the family being present. After the ceremony congratulations were in order, after which followed refreshments.

The presents to those young people were quite numerous and some of them very costly and elegant, many of them coming from friends in Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, as well as a generous supply from home friends. Our best wishes are extended them and may their married life be as happy as it is possible to be.

All of these people, with two exceptions, were born and have lived their lives in Farmington, and the best wishes of the entire
community are theirs.

[Note: The year is not stated but position in scrapbook would suggest 1893]
