My Grt-Granny Martha Crane married Samuel Slutts/z (Pool) at Palmrya MO. in the later 1800s. They lived in Douds. She taught one-room schools. She was very smart. She was a Woman's Sufforette. She was a GREAT garderner and cook/esp. baking!!! Her father was Edmund Bryant Crane and her mother was Catherine Paugh. She was a great geneologist for our family history-even before the Internet. Now I have researched her stories on the internet--- the pedigree paperwork is there, and just as she told me in the early 1960s. She was 83-84 years old then. I was only 6-7, yet I remember her words, so clearly. She informed me and my family that we were related to the Douds, to the Mayflower familes, to England and France/German royalty and to President George Washington and to her Uncle the famous author Stephen Crane. I have traced all of these and ---they are ALL true. These famous people were all intertwined through marriages of my Grt Granny's family of the Cranes-through a family name of Townley. If anyone is a relative of mine please email me- i have lots of family info to share and would like to have more, to pass onto other generations, before info is lost in space. Her daughter Della Stilwell-Hill was my Grandmother. These women were great ladies and teachers! So i wish to pass on their knowledge for them-that is what they would like!!!
