Thank you for your response. Your info added another generation to my research. You were correct that I misread the census taker's handwriting. A closer look does show her birth place as Illinois. How did you access the census that you referenced? Are those images available on line? I have been doing my census research through Heritage Quest through the Denver Public Library, but the years 1850 and 1880 are missing. I also don't find anything in the Illinois GenWeb.
