Poland Family

POLAND POLLAND

I am looking for any information on the family of Josiah and Eliza Christman Poland.

They were married in Appanoose County Iowa on December 6, 1857. They lived in several counties and communities in southern Iowa. They had ten children--Mary Ella, John, Ida, James, Lydia, Alice, Kate, Clara, Myrtle, Arthur. Three (Ida,James and Lydia) were born in Melrose between 1866 and 1871. One (Alice) was born in Ottumwa in 1863 and one (Kate) in Unionville in 1862.

Josiah was born in Pennsylvania in 1832 and may have come to Iowa with, or to be near, other Poland families from Pennsylvania.

Josiah and Eliza separated (divorced?) while some of the children were still living at home. Eliza is thought to have gone to Lake Mills or Lake City and run a boarding home.

Any information would be appreciated, especially names of Josiah's parents, siblings or other relatives.
