I am looking for help on two families in my ancestry that have roots in Iowa. At that time neither family were related (not till generations later when my parents married), but they can both be traced to Iowa and Dakota Territory.
First: Roe
1. JERRY1 ROE was born Abt. 1861 in Iowa1. He married RACHEL UNKNOWN Abt. 1894. She was born Abt. 1864 in Canady, Canada.Notes for JERRY ROE:
We knew Frank's brother's name was Piere. So with the two boys in mind I was able to locate the family in the 1910 Census in Otoe Township, Noble, OK. Now this Census is for the Indian Population. On this Census Rachel states that she is from Canady ( I believe this to be in Canada). She is half Chipaway Indian. According to the census her father was white and her mother was Chipaway Indian. There may be other children of Rachel and Jerry. On the census it states that she has had six pregnancies and five are living. I would assume that there may to two others older then Piere.
Frank states that he is born in Iowa and his father born in IN and mother in IL.
On Frank's death ceritificate they spelled the last name as Rose. I don't know how many other times this could have happened, or if the families name was really Rose at some point.
