John Perry Downing & Martha Jane Boring were married June 5, 1861 in Wright Co., Iowa. Marriage record has her surname as: Baring.
Martha was the daughter of John Boring & Lucretia UNKNOWN. SEE MY NOTE OF CORRECTION BELOW THIS THREAD
John Perry Downing was the son of Josiah Downing & Jemima Sutton.
John Perry Downing remarried to Sarah Aster on Sept. 24, 1865 in Hamilton Co., Iowa.
Sarah was born about 1847 in Ohio.
John & Sarah had 7 known children that I have found in census records:
Adaline, James S., George Gilbert, Harriet Elizabeth, Charles F., William, and Eunice.
George Gilbert Downing married Etta M. Downing, who is his 1st cousin, once removed.
Etta M. Downing was born March 13, 1897 in Woodbury Co., Iowa. She is the daughter and only child of Charles Edward Downing & his first wife, Frances "Fanny" Clark, who died in 1899.
2nd wife of Charles Edward Downing was Olive Hepsibeth Livermore, daughter of Ai Livermore & Roxanna Wetherman/Weatherman.
Charles Edward Downing was the son of Daniel Louis Downing & Adeline Rosella Ritts.
Daniel Louis Downing is the son of Josiah Downing & Jemima Sutton, and is also the brother of the aforementioned John Perry Downing.
NOW, for all that is said in the thread above, I have a correction to that which says that Martha Boring was the daughter of John Boring (b in 1820 Ohio to death in1885 Eagle Grove, Wright Co, Iowa) and Mary Ann Henderson (b ? d before 1860). They were married in 1841 in Indiana. John remarried Lucretia Arnold in 1853. Lucretia born 1833 in Kentucky; died 30 Mar 1925 in Eagle Grove.
